Welcome to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.
The Financial Services Regulatory Authority was established by the Financial Services Ordinance 2008.
The FSRA is responsible for the licensing and regulation of financial services businesses in the British Overseas Territory of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.
The Ordinance sets out the objectives and responsibilities of the FSRA. The statutory objectives of the FSRA are to:
- maintain confidence in the financial system
- promote public understanding of the financial system
- secure an appropriate degree of protection for consumers and depositors
- reduce the extent to which it is possible for a business to be used for a purpose connected with financial crime
The FSRA is led by the Financial Services Supervisor who also acts as its Chair. From time to time, individuals may be appointed as members of the FSRA. Their role is to provide guidance to the Chair and to assist the FSRA in the discharge of its responsibilities under the Ordinance.
Although the Financial Services Supervisor is appointed by the Governor, the FSRA operates independently of government.
